CMS Open Data 2012 Dimuon Datasets

Educational and outreach datasets from CMS Run 2012B collision and simulation data.

These datasets represent a processed subset of the CMS Open Data corresponding to 2012 data-taking conditions ($4.429~\text{fb}^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV), specifically optimized for education and outreach dimuon physics exercises.

Features

  • Formats: Available in both CSV and Pickle (PKL) formats.
  • Data subset: DoubleMuParked primary dataset from CMS Run 2012B (/DoubleMuParked/Run2012B-22Jan2013-v1/AOD).
  • Simulation subset: DYJetsToLL reduced NanoAOD Monte Carlo sample ($30,458,871$ generated events).
  • Processing: Produced with a modified version of the AOD2NanoAODOutreachTool.
